One Way I Use AI in My Current Job to Be More Efficient
I get asked a lot whether AI actually helps in a sales role, or if it’s just hype. Here’s one concrete, everyday example from my current job.
A big part of prospecting is figuring out who to reach out to and whether they’re even worth the outreach — and both steps are time-consuming when done by hand. To speed that up, I’ve started using a Copilot agent to do the first pass for me.
Here’s how it works: I point the agent at our existing pipeline, and it searches online for a company’s contact information — the right people, their details, and how to get in touch. From there, it helps with pre-qualification: it assesses how likely it is that our services would actually be applicable and attractive to that business, so I can quickly tell a strong lead from a weak one.
The result is that a lot of the manual research and guesswork gets handled up front. Instead of spending my morning digging for contact info and trying to judge fit from scratch, I get a head start — relevant contacts surfaced and a rough read on whether the opportunity is worth pursuing. That frees me up to focus on the part that actually needs a human: building the relationship and having the conversation.
What I like most is that it doesn’t replace my judgment — it sharpens it. The agent handles the legwork, and I make the final call. It’s a small change to my workflow, but it adds up to a meaningful boost in efficiency, and it’s a great example of the kind of business-meets-technology thinking I enjoy.
